LINKIN PARK Earns 11 New Platinum-Single Certifications Following CHESTER BENNINGTON's Death

On August 4, eleven songs spanning LINKIN PARK's entire catalog received new platinum certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
"One Step Closer""Waiting For The End" and "Leave Out All The Rest" earned their first platinum records, while "What I've Done""Bleed It Out""Shadow Of The Day""New Divide""In The End""Numb""Burn It Down" and the Jay-Z collaboration "Numb/Encore" added multi-platinum certifications. Notably, "What I've Done", which was the first single from LINKIN PARK's third studio album, 2007's "Minutes To Midnight", got a five-times-platinum nod, making it the band's most commercially successful — though not necessarily most well-known — song.
After singer Chester Bennington's death on July 20, LINKIN PARK album and single sales have been dramatically on the rise, with twenty-three of the group's songs making it to Billboard's Hot Rock Songs chart. Furthermore, four LINKIN PARK albums returned to the Billboard 200 chart, including "Meteora", which landed at number 11.
By July 27, LINKIN PARK's album sales had already rocketed by 125%, while song sales had risen by 191%. On streaming platforms, song listens rose by a whopping 288%, going from 23.5 million to 91.1 million.
Bennington's private funeral service took place on July 29 near his home in Palos Verdes, California. It was attended by five hundred guests, including members of all three bands Chester sang in: LINKIN PARKSTONE TEMPLE PILOTS and DEAD BY SUNRISE.

The outpouring of grief following the tragic death of  Linkin Park  frontman  Chester Bennington  last month extended not only to the metal scene but the music community as a whole. Stormzy , who  collaborated with Linkin Park  on their 2017 single ‘Good Goodbye’,  reacted to Bennington’s death  by tweeting that he was “heartbroken” and “so upset”. Hundreds of fans sing Linkin Park Classics at a Chester Bennington Memorial : The event took place last night (August 6) in Los Angeles Hundreds of fans gathered at Los Angeles’ Grand Park last night (August 6) to sing Linkin Park songs together in memory of the band’s late singer Chester Bennington. Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington died by suicide on July 20.
