Linkin Park Planning 'Special Public Event' in Los Angeles to Tribute Chester Bennington

Chester Bennington of Linkin Park performs at The O2 Arena on July 3, 2017 in London, England.
Linkin Park is getting ready to give fans the opportunity to salute its fallen vocalist.
On Tuesday (Aug. 22) the band shared its intention to memorialize Chester Bennington in its home city, presumably in the near future.
“The five of us are so grateful for all of your support as we heal and build the future of Linkin Park,” the social media note reads. “We are working on a special public event in Los Angeles to honor Chester’s memory and look forward to sharing details with you soon.”
Linkin Park has not performed since Bennington committed suicide on July 20 and has kept a decidedly low profile, subtly paying its respects as necessary. The new message suggests the five remaining members may be planning some sort of live performance, or at least a public appearance in Bennington’s memory.
Linkin Park had been scheduled for a summer co-headlining tour with Blink-182, though both bands canceled those dates following Bennington’s death.

I didn't want people to think I was gay or that I was lying. It was a horrible experience." It was a defining moment in Bennington's life that he only revealed after critics cast doubt on the authenticity of the pain in his lyrics, according to The Guardian. Despite succumbing to substance abuse to cope with the childhood trauma, Bennington chose not to pursue retribution against his abuser. After discovering that his abuser had himself been a victim of abuse, Bennington said, "I didn't need revenge." He struggled with drug addiction at a young age Bennigton's parents divorced when he was...
